On April 19, Men's Journal and Alpina threw a party. There were drinks, hors d'ouevres, and music, but the routine ended there. This was a party to honor the 25 most adventurous men of the past 25 years — and that became clear when honoree Erik Weihenmayer took the room to give a talk.
The fully blind adventurer, who has climbed the 3,000-foot Nose route on Yosemite’s El Capitan, summited Mount Everest, finished the Leadville 100 mountain bike race, and kayaked the 277-mile length of the Grand Canyon. “I've been motivated by joy and discovery," says Weihenmayer, "and what's possible."
