Shaker Museum Road, Hudson Valley, New York
The Hudson Valley, north of New York City and close to the western border of Massachusetts, is, says Jeanne Rummel of Great Freedom Adventures, a “relatively undiscovered part of the state with world-class cycling routes. Shaker Museum Road has almost no traffic. It's flat with some rolling hills and it’s a straight shot with few tight turns or even intersections to slow you down. You’ll see old farmsteads, alpaca and horse farms, and even a large and picturesque sheep farm that produces award-winning artisanal cheese — worth a stop.
