Masaya and Mombacho Volcanoes
Masaya is a complex volcano with 12 miles of trails around its various calderas and craters, with fields of petrified lava to hike around and places to safely peer into the crater. Twenty-four miles away, the Mombacho stratovolcano, which last erupted in 1570, has five miles of trails that lead up to a small biological station nestled in a cloud forest. There is abundant wildlife throughout Mombacho, including white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, and sloths.
