Min Bahadur Sherchan
An 85-year-old Nepali great-grandfather, Min Bahadur Sherchan is looking to reclaim the title of Oldest Person to Climb Everest. He held it in 2008, when he summited for the first time at age 76. Five years later, in 2013, Japanese climber Yuichiro Miura broke the record at age 80. Sherchan had planned to try and take back the title sooner, but was delayed by the earthquake of 2015. As a Nepal native who was born and raised in the mountains, Sherchan is naturally acclimatized to the thin air at high altitude. He told the AP that the only thing that can stop him from making the summit is adverse weather.
