Drone Captures a Volcanic Eruption From Above

Drone company DJI visited Iceland’s Bardarbunga volcano and Holuhraun lava fissure to show off the flying and shooting capabilities of its new Phantom 3 Quadcopter. To add a little drama, the aerial footage is paired with a voiceover of Robert Frost's "Fire and Ice" as the drone glides over the fissure's river of basaltic magma. The Phantom 3, which starts at $1,000, is controllable from up to 1.2 miles away and DJI markets it as "easy to fly." The Holuhraun fissure, a lava field surrounding the Bardarbunga volcano in Vatnajökull National Park, recently experienced the largest eruption of lava by volume in Iceland since 1783, spreading across almost 18 acres.
