'Morning of the Earth' (Alby Falzon, 1972)

This film is surfing's definitive "country soul" document, in all its bearded, barefoot, and organic glory. Only a few dozen surfers actually live the back-to-nature country soul dream, but millions fantasize about it, thanks to Falzon's first movie, which hit such a perfect chord that he never came back with a full-blown follow-up. Shot mostly in Australia and Hawaii, 'Earth' also marks the surf movie debut of Indonesia, which to this day remains the ultimate wave-riding destination.
