Blue Mosque, Istanbul
The Place: Millions of visitors travel to see Istanbul’s magnificent Blue Mosque each year. In addition to being one of the holiest places of worship in the country, with 200 stained glass windows and 20,000 blue tiles that line its interior, it’s also one of its most beautiful.
Beat the Crowds: One of the best times to visit is following the first call to prayer at sunrise. Keep in mind the Mosque closes for 90 minutes during prayer time. If you’re not an early bird, it’s recommended that visitors arrive no later than mid-morning to avoid overcrowding.
