Taj Mahal, India
The Place: This one's an especially packed destination. An estimated 7 million tourists visit the Taj Mahal every year, meaning you want to skip December and January, when tourist numbers are at their peak.
Beat the Crowds: Try to enter from the East Gate, as it tends to be less crowded. If possible, plan to arrive on the early side, around 6:30 a.m. (30 minutes before the complex opens). By 11 a.m., the Taj will be filled with tourists. Word to the wise, be wary of anyone promising fast-track entry, because it’s often a scam.
