totally agree with Kevin and the other commenters. Why would you mess with a very recognizable (and therefore valuable) brand image, especially to replace it with something utterly uninspiring?! I have been a subscriber since Year 1, and this is only slightly less disappointing than when you abandoned outdoor/adventure landscape cover photos for male celebrity covers.

[...] Bremelanotide (PT-141) was developed from Melanotan II, which was tested as a sunless tanning agent. PT-141 is a metabolite of MT-II that lacks the C-terminal amide function-stripping away tanning properties. Bremelanotide belongs to class of drugs called melanocortins. In initial testing, Melanotan II did induce tanning but additionally caused sexual arousal and spontaneous erections as unexpected side effects in nine out of the ten original male volunteer test subjects. PT-141 is the only synthetic aphrodisiac.
For heavier weight lifting, same 6 hour fast but sip energy drink as you work. And of course water as needed.

For anerobic cross training do a 4 hour fast sipping an energy drink. With fast cooldown walk or jog after. You will burn fat.

I've found the only way to burn fat is more about setting up the conditions in which the body naturally does so than the specific workout.

no calories 6 hours before a moderate workout at least 45 min long. No sugur in blood for energy = fat to glycogen for energy. It all comes down to what fuel source the body has available. Leave it no choice but belly fat...

I love SJDS but this article is missing a lot of the story. The waves have been crowded in Maderas, Hermosa and most other nearby beaches for several years now. And the foreign hedonists are eroding the local culture, plenty of local teenagers now sell drugs or sex, not a great harbinger for the future. For a taste of more authentic Nicaragua beach life it is better to go up north to the beaches by Leon. And the Gato Negro is about as un-Nicaraguan a place there is, after living there for years the owners still don't speak Spanish and riding around on a $8,000 mountain bike in a country with crushing poverty issues (the average income is $2/day) has to be the pinnacle of callousness.

Don't forget to bring a bike (and any old gear to donate) down for the annual Howler Mountain Bike Race where race organizers donate proceeds and are helping build the sport by giving away bikes and helmets to novice racers!

"Jim Crow South?"

I'm sorry. Did Robby Robinson compete in the 1950's or early 60's? No. He was an early-to-late 70's bodybuilder. While still less enlightened than now, I don't think the South of the 70's could quite be characterized as "Jim Crow." I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

The caption for the first photo says they are walking along the boardwalk in Venice Beach however they are actually on the boardwalk in Santa Monica. The photo was taken just south of the pier near the original location of Muscle Beach established in the 1930s.

The give away is protruding building in the background. I don't know what it was at the time but it's the Casa Del Mar hotel now. Photo of the building on Google Maps. http://g.co/maps/eu3j5

"Through the 1960s, 1970s and into the 1980s, both tourists and local residents alike began to refer to the Venice "Weight Pen" as California's existing "Muscle Beach" -- mostly unaware that for more than 25 years, the actual world-famous name and reputation earned by the name Muscle Beach was exclusively in reference to the Santa Monica location. While the Venice Weight Pen was not the actual location of "Muscle Beach", what happened during the decades between the 1960s and the 1980s was that for an interim period when the City of Santa Monica had removed the sign and fitness equipment (that had served for decades as the foundation for Muscle Beach), a generation of the public and tourists -- who did not know better -- began to simply assume that the Venice Weight Pen location was 'Muscle Beach' -- while genuine fitness and physical culture "insiders" knew that there was the one and only "Muscle Beach" site in Santa Monica."

I don't really have much to add but I would like to second Kevin's comments. He hit the nail on the head; there was just something about the old font that was captivating and enticing that the new font just doesn't have. Now it just looks like every other magazine that is trying to be "modern", whatever that means.

You had achieved a recognizable "look" that could be easily spotted on a crowded magazine rack. I can't explain it well, but there was something about the "look" that gave me a good feeling and compelled me to pick up the magazine, expecting to find something entertaining inside. The font design was very masculine and interesting that uniquely identified your magazine, even without "reading" the name, similar to the Marlboro Man trademark. Why would anyone want to throw away that unique pinnacle of branding, which so many companies pay huge amounts of money to achieve and usually never reach?

You have a great magazine. It's just that now you have a BORING cover. WHY?

Will still read your magazine,

Guys. Love this gallery! If having your own home theater isn't one of your aspirations than you shouldn't be reading Mens Journal. You should instead be watching a Sally Fields movie on the Lifetime Network.

P.S: Love that projector. I'm hearing that's one of the best 3D ones out there for home theaters. Too bad it's a little out of my price range!

Awesome post! Injuries have been a major source of pain & frustration but also guidance & increased understanding for me as well.

Counterbalancing repetitive movements is critical, so is the idea of "working in" as much as "working out", meaning relaxation techniques, yoga, tai chi, qigong, meditation, things that augment your parasympathetic nervous system, to balance out the body/mind, hormones, etc & all the stress & sympathetic nervous system stimulation that people overdose on daily.

Hate to break the news, but many American's are still repelled by huge muscles. I like the old school, natural body builders, ever since then its gotten unbalanced & unhealthy for the most part.

I am currently 28 and have been on 1mg a day since I was 23. No issues at all. 165lbs, 7% body fat and regular sex drive. I've been actively lifting weights and playing sports my whole life, don't know if that had anything to do with it but most people with problems look to be overweight. In my opinion it is still a small portion of people that have these side effects. This article used subjects from a website for people that already have Propecia based problems. Seems a little unfair. I bet the article would be the opposite if they sourced people from a website "propeciaisawesome.com". I'm not related to Merck in any way shape or form. Just one of the majority that doesn't have problems. And I'm sorry to those of you who do.
