George R.R Martin Reveals New Excerpt from 'Winds of Winter'

Game of Thrones fans, there's cause for celebration. Well, kind of. GoT author George R.R. Martin revealed an excerpt from the anticipated Winds of Winter (part of his A Song of Ice and Fire series) on his website, which centers on a character never introduced on the HBO show, taunting enthusiasts of the series worldwide. The nearly 6,000-word excerpt focuses on Arianne Martell, a noblewoman from Westeros' southern-most peninsula, Dorne, and teases readers with a taste of what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, and Darkstar are up to.

As the cult favorite enters its sixth season, the HBO show has already caught up to the highly successful A Song of Ice and Fire, since each season has dropped with an installment of the series being released. Since the newest installment of A Song of Ice and Fire is yet to be released in full, we won't know if show producers relied on their creativity or the novel to make the latest batch of episodes. So, if you’re one of the three people who still needs to catch up on Game of Thrones, you might want to grab the remote before grabbing those books to avoid any potential spoilers.
