Due to the golden age of television many film festivals have opened the door to showcasing provocative series, and so three 30-minute installments of Viceland’s new show Rise will premiere at Sundance. The series will showcase a different group of indigenous people fighting against the exploitation of their native lands. One of the episodes, titled “Sacred Water,” looks at the very recent struggle between the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation and the North Dakota Pipeline.
