Water & Power: A California Heist

The issues that arose from California’s water crisis were not only known about in the state itself, but all over the world. This project serves as exposé on those nefarious individuals, referred to as “water barons,” who use outdated laws to stockpile water for their own use while citizens are forced to go without. The cinematography is effective, displaying the harsh dessert conditions of the underserved landscape, which contrasts deeply with the well-nourished farmlands owned by those “barons.” “It’s shocking and appalling, and it’s time to pay attention,” says director Marina Zenovich.
