Mon 10/17: Vice News Tonight, The Revenant (HBO)
The new Vice News program could not have picked a better time to launch, with nearly a month left in one of the most controversial election races in history. Looking to break the mold of the typical television news broadcast, there will be no anchor at a desk, instead opting for the “Voice of God” approach to its half-hour investigation into the latest hot topics. The HBO collaboration will also lean heavily on more visually stimulating field footage, hoping to capture the attention of the younger generations. Founder Shane Smith’s instructions to the show’s executive producer Josh Tyrangiel were apparently pretty straight forward, starting with the decision to “start fresh” with the program. Then, if you don’t have too early a morning on Tuesday, leave the channel on and re-watch The Revenant, the movie that won Leo the Oscar.
