Sat 2/18: Planet Earth II (BBC America)
The beloved BBC America series Planet Earth returns for another high-definition look at the miracles taking place in nature. Renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough steps back into the sound booth to lend his iconic voice to the follow-up. Through the special Attenborough narrates as pygmy three-toed sloths navigate the Caribbean islands, caiman hunting jaguars prowl through the jungle, and chinstrap penguins hop about the remote Zavodovski Island. “There’s a story in the Galapagos that I can’t wait for people to see,” says producer Elizabeth White. “It’s the tale of hatchling marine iguanas that emerge from their eggs buried in the sand and have to cross the beach to reach the colony down by the sea while being hunted by Galapagos racer snakes. The action plays out to music scored by none other than Hollywood heavyweight Hans Zimmer.
