"The great thing about living in Hawaii is you can just be outdoors all the time," Kim says. Beyond the regular tourist's punch list of beach-based activities – swimming, surfing, sunning – Kim has found himself taking advantage of his new home's unique geography. "I actually started taking up rock climbing," he says. "We were looking for something to do and I have a friend who's really into it and he just said, 'Well why don't you come along?'" His climbs aren't limited to bouldering on the islands' many volcanic peaks; he's a big fan of man-made climbs as well. "There's this great rock climbing gym on the other side of Oahu – Volcanic Rock Gym," he says of the Waipo training spot, which has more than 3,000 feet of climbing areas. "They're great, actually."
