Ever since the disappearance of steel-spiked shoes some 20 years ago, golf footwear has been getting progressively more stylish and comfortable, leaving the field open to companies like Ecco, better-known for its civilian wares. The Danish outfit now offers a broad range of golf shoes, including a handsome sneaker – the Mens BIOM Golf Hybrid – that facilitates a seamless transition from clubhouse to nightclub. Adios, saddle shoes.

Given that there are no spikes on the sole, Ecco has devised a constellation of 150 thermo-plastic, molded traction bars that firmly anchor one's feet to turf or sand in any weather conditions. Uppers are made of breathable, water-repellent yak leather, resulting in a lightweight, casual look that performs just as well on the course as off. They're so comfortable that we've actually used them as street kicks.

Best of all, there are no plastic spikes to remove and replace every 10 rounds – the durable, polyurethane sole will probably well outlast our futile attempts to break 80. Hey, at least we'll look good shooting bogey golf. [$190; eccousa.com]
