The outside world may associate Park City with glitz – the Sundance Film Festival, three luxe ski resorts – but ask locals what they love most and it's sure to be the trails. The hills that surround town hold an unprecedented 400 miles of loops, networks, and connector trails that link the loops and join the networks and connect them all to town for hiking, trail running, or biking. "And the hook is," says outdoor photographer Dan Campbell, "you're always within 15 minutes of Park City [by bike]."
The trails are mostly on private land and maintained and mapped by Mountain Trails, a local conservancy. They virtually bring the Wasatch Range to you and then drop you off back in town.
Getting There: Fly to Salt Lake City; drive 40 minutes east.
