The White Diamond (2004)
Some of Herzog's films contain portraits of singular individuals; others focus on uncanny landscapes. This documentary splits the difference. Graham Dorrington, the film's subject, is the creator of a dirigible used to travel above the canopy of the rain forest. Dorrington himself is haunted by guilt and loss, making for a compelling central figure. Juxtapose that with some utterly breathtaking footage of creatures that you're unlikely to see anywhere else, and the result is a stunning and unique experience.
