Reach the Edge of Space
Flying into space is the ultimate adventure. Thanks to Sir Richard Branson's astronaut dreams and billionaire status, Virgin Galactic built the government-funded $250-million Spaceport America in New Mexico in anticipation of the first human spaceflight airline. Spaceships are still being tested and astronauts are being trained, but civilians are already lining up reservations for a $250,000 sub-orbital trips. Flights will take four passengers to the edge of space with two pilots. Nearly 700 people, including Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ashton Kutcher have their tickets ready despite a test flight that resulted in a fatal crash in October. Virgin Galactic ensures the safety of the research, requiring space travelers to undergo three days of on-site training before their flight.
