The fifth stop of Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp Across America brought us to Philadelphia, the beating heart of the Mid-Atlantic beer scene, which brags big breweries like Dogfish Head, Victory, and Yuengling. It's also one of the most burgeoning scenes for the little guys, with nearly 150 breweries in Pennsylvania alone. We sampled dozens of beers at the festival that you'll be hard-pressed to find outside the Mid-Atlantic. Here are our favorites.
Forge Brew Works Petite Saison
The Brewery: Brew Forge Works out of Lorton, Virginia (25 miles south of Alexandria)
The Beer: Petite Saison
Tasting Notes: This crisp saison is the kind of beer that, first and foremost, quenches thirst. "It's the beer I use when I play beer pong," Matt Rose, the founder and head brewer of Forge, told us at the festival. Thanks to a spare use of Saaz hops and just a 3.6 percent ABV, you can do just that for hours without getting tipsy.
