Good team chemistry is often essential to success. Kissing is not. But at the 1998 World Cup, French defender Laurent Blanc would kiss his goalkeeper's shaved head before the start of each game. The love and affection built team spirit and the strange display became a team-wide ritual, with everyone kissing Fabien Barthez's shiny orb before the whistle blew. France went on to win the Cup and Barthez was showered with kisses all over again.
