Surrounded on one side by lush and verdant jungle and the other by miles of unspoiled Pacific Ocean beaches, the hippie-chic vibe of this quiet fishing village will make you quickly forget about worries back home. "There are numerous yoga studios and other new age offerings throughout town," says Michelle Peterson founder of A Taste for Travel blog and part time Mexico resident. "Everyone is laid back." Playa Mermejita located just west of town is a nude beach and is a nesting site for leatherback turtles. The Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga (Mexican National Turtle Center) is located in town and offers tours daily. The Oceano Mar feels like a modern day Robinson Caruso escape.
Getting There: Fly into Mexico City and then catch connecting flight into Santa María Huatulco. From there catch taxi for the 50-minute drive to Mazunte.
