The Perot Museum, which houses a massive collection of dinosaur bones and engineering marvels, is essentially a giant slate cube dropped into the center of downtown Dallas. But architect Thom Mayne wan't content to embrace mere simplicity. The museum's most prominent feature is a glass-sided escalator pops out of the edifice and cuts 54-feet diagonally across the facade. The view from the inside is stunning, but the visual effect of this slash of modernist pomp is most notable.
