Blue Light Blockers: Jins Night Screen
If you haven’t yet heard, the blue light coming out of your electronic devices is wrecking your sleep. A gaggle of studies has linked working at night to increased rates of cancer, heart disease, and obesity. Researchers think this is due to the amount of blue light — which messes with our nighttime hormone production — that workers are exposed to when their bodies should, at least evolutionarily speaking, be sleeping.
While new iPhones can dim blue light, that’s just the tip of the big blue iceberg of light your eyes are being flooded with. Your TV emits it. So does your laptop. Even your lightbulbs are shedding the stuff. To block it all, your best choice is blue-light blocking glasses. These things aren’t sexy. The ones that block the most amount of blue light have yellow lenses, so there’s no passing them off for regular eye ware. JINS, a Japanese eyewear company, is at least making a version that comes in a range of cool frames.
