In the Midwest, people drink for the season. That means there's an incredible variety of beers available that are perfectly paired with the heat, cold, sunshine, or frigid dark of winter. This diversity was on display in Chicago, Illinois at the fourth stop of the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp tour. Here, from the event, are some of our favorite regional pours.
Boulevard Brewing Company's Saison-Brett: Kansas City, Missouri
The Brewery: Boulevard Brewing Company, one of the country’s biggest craft breweries known locally for their dominate wheat beer, but elsewhere for their “Smokestack Series” of specialty recipes, in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Beer: Saison-Brett
Tasting Notes: A super-dry, well-hopped farmhouse ale that uses wild Brettanomyces yeast in a concoction that delivers unique flavor and mouthfeel. The bottle conditioning on this beer also gives it a lot of carbonation that helps carry those unusual, funky aromas.
