In the Midwest, people drink for the season. That means there's an incredible variety of beers available that are perfectly paired with the heat, cold, sunshine, or frigid dark of winter. This diversity was on display in Chicago, Illinois at the fourth stop of the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp tour. Here, from the event, are some of our favorite regional pours.
Tyranena Brewing's Rocky's Revenge Bourbon Brown: Lake Mills, Wisconsin
The Brewery: Tyranena Brewing, a quirky, southern Wisconsin brewery named after a debatable tribal legend between Madison and Milwaukee in Lake Mills, Wisconsin.
The Beer: Rocky's Revenge Bourbon Brown
Tasting Notes: A noble-hopped, bourbon barrel-aged brown ale with a ton of malty character, toasted nut, vanilla, and caramel. Too heavy for a typical Chicago summer, this is perfect during the unexpected return of the polar vortex that gave us a breezy 60-degree-and-sunny-kind of day on the shore.
