With some 2,800 craft brewers in the nation, many of them serving up their beers only in their hometown, it's pretty much impossible to try everything. That's why we went to each city in Beer Camp Across America, the seven-stop festival that offered space to every brewery in the nation. At these stops, we sampled hundreds of beers unique to (and sometimes only known in) each region. Here from the Chico, California fest are our favorite small-time brews from the Pacific Northwest – ones you'll have to try next time you're traveling in Oregon, Washington, or Northern California.
BarrelHouse Brewing Company: Pale Ryder
The Brewery: BarrelHouse Brewing Company, a brewery in Paso Robles, California
The Beer: Pale Ryder, their Rye Style Pale Ale
Tasting Notes: In a sea of same-same pale ales, the Paso Robles brewery’s release stands apart with its gorgeous aromas of citrus, stonefruits, and lemongrass.
