How to Play: A bocce set comes with nine balls total: one white boccino, four heavy green balls, and four heavy red balls. Assemble two teams. Once the boccino is thrown, each player has two chances at getting closest to its spot. Shots can cancel each other out. The length of a game varies but is generally played to 13.
Why It's Awesome: Bocce has a storied history, tracing its origins to The Boot. And luckily, you don't need a manicured lawn or a regulation spread to play. Bring your set to the beach, and you can either bowl down in the surf or toss for precision in the sand.
