Social lubrication during the games will hardly be an issue, especially in a country as convivial as Brazil. But the nightlife is sure to be all the more outgoing in Belo Horizonte, know as Brazil's bar capital and home to over 14,000 watering holes called butecos that attract fans from all walks of life. Ricardo Trigueiro, who was born in Belo Horizonte, says butecos are great spots to experience traditional cuisine (pig ears, liver, chicken feet), adding that "the simplicity and the casual approach of the locals makes everyone feel at home." Trigueiro also recommends making the 25-minute drive to Topo Do Mundo, a mountain-top restaurant where you can watch paragliders riding the thermals as you tuck into juicy steaks.
