Evergreen Mountain Lookout
The only way to access the 14- by 14-foot lookout cabin fixed atop Evergreen Mountain is via the Evergreen Lookout Trail — 2.5 miles of steep, intense hiking with big views of the Cascades. The cabin was not only a fire lookout, but also served as Aircraft Warning Station during World War II and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1990s. The post boasts views of Glacier Peak, Mount Daniels, Keyes Peak, and Mount Rainier for an awe-inspiring 360. Includes: Twin bed, three extra mattresses, primitive vault toilet, propane stove and lanterns, and cookware. No water ($40 per night).
