The body is always detoxing and cleansing – that's part of what your liver, kidneys, and lungs do – but sometimes it can use a boost. (Think post-weekend in Vegas, feeling sluggish or bloated – or just too addicted to a nightly dose of sugar, cheese, or alcohol.) Dr. Frank Lipman, an integrative doctor whose patients include Kevin Bacon and David Letterman, says you can hit the reset button on your diet – no starvation or liquefied salad dinners required. "If you feel deprived, you're not going to be successful," says Lipman. Follow these tips for a minimum of 10 days (if you can go two weeks, so much the better) to kick start a healthier way of eating, ditch your bad habits – and shed those last five pounds.
6. Eat More Greens
The bulk of your meals should be plant-based, and since you're avoiding dairy, you'll need to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables for calcium. If you don't want to go completely organic, check out EWG's "dirty dozen" – which vegetables you really should buy organic. (Hint: Spinach is near the top of the list.)
