You've been ignoring your grill for months. It needs some love.

  • Tend to your grate. If it's more than a few years old, ditch it and get one made of cast iron or stainless steel. If you've already done that, get a high-quality brush. We like the Grill Daddy, which uses steam to make your grate shine.
  • Upgrade your flame. Use flavored chips. Or switch from charcoal to wood, which burns hotter and tastes better.
  • Grill something new. Tackling something ambitious – a whole fish, pizza, a turkey – will take your game to a whole new level. (Thesmokering.com is packed with products, advice, and recipes.)
