Technically, this jacket isn't made of denim, but of a wool-linen blend manipulated to look like denim. It also trades plain brass buttons for more formal black ones. But this thing could not be sleeker. The extended poplin layer – that shirt-looking thing that sticks out of the bottom – provides more coverage and a sense of dressed-upedness that the other jackets on the list don't have. You get the sense that this would look just as appropriate at a formal dinner as it would at an art opening. [$1,650; barneys.com]
