Getting others' attention.
Winter is sometimes perplexed by which images are picked up by the magazine and which aren't, but he says there's one guiding principle he always keeps in mind when editing his work. "Ultimately, we want to give people a reason to care about the subjects of our photographs," he says. "Almost everything has been photographed before, so we always need to show something in a new way. It's about looking for a wow factor."
