It's natural to draw inspiration from famous photographers, but to be original, you'll want to look farther and at other mediums, such as painting or even conceptual art. "Forget photography. Go to a museum or google the masters of painting to get a sense of what makes art art," Winter says. With their influence, you might start to see the world through your lens as an impressionist like Monet or a cubist like Picasso.
