Artist Bryan Nash Gill isn't satisfied with merely gazing at the trees and forest surrounding his studio. Instead he has painstakingly documented them, keeping year-by-year records of those that age and eventually fall. Then, he examines them further, slicing and arranging their ancient bodies before pressing them into paper to make exquisite art prints, collected here in this coffee table book. The effect is mesmerizing – page after page of abstract swirls and ripples from burls, branches, and knots and grain – a marriage of high art and the endless work of Mother Nature.
