The Muppets Take Manhattan
Forget the recent reboots — this goofy, giddy tale of Kermit & co. arriving in the Big Apple with big Broadway dreams is the only Muppets movie you really need. The charm of Jim Henson's felt creations are readily apparent here without feeling saccharine-sweet or vaudeville-corny, while the jokes about how horrible New York used to be — muggers, rats named Rizzo, and ad men, oh my! — are just knowing enough to get by. Now someone just needs to make a movie about the Muppets taking Williamsburg.
