This artisanal ice cream shop, with its own "good-ingredient bakery," opened in 2004 and stands out from the many ice cream shops in this college town. Both operations support local farmers, producers, and purveyors. There are standard flavors with a twist, such as Chocolate Habanero and Cardamom Ginger, but more inventive, experimental flavors available intermittently run into the hundreds. There's the powerfully delicious Banana Mascarpone or Basil, the Triumph Brewery Stout, the Red Cabbage curiosity, the Strawberry Wild Plum Rhubarb sorbet. Put some of this between two of the shop's crumbly, buttery cookies, and you have one hell of a sandwich. In the winter, grab some habanero hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows.
