Female Sterilization is the Most Common form of Contraception in the World
A 2013 report from the United Nations found that 63 percent of women who were of reproductive age and married or in a cohabitating relationship used some form of contraception. Rates were the lowest in Middle Africa and Western Africa, at under 25 percent. In Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and North America, contraceptive use was reported at over 70 percent. Worldwide, female sterilization is the most common form of contraception, used by 19 percent of these women.
