Problem: Cracked Heels
Dry, flakey feet are not sexy, but the bigger problem is your health: The fissures (those cracks along the bottom of your feet and heels) can become deep enough that they bleed when you stand or put pressure on them, making the open wounds vulnerable to infection.
The Solution: The skin around your heel is usually tougher than other areas of your foot, so intense moisturizing is required to penetrate the dermis. Use a thick cream twice-a-day (try Alchimie Dry Skin Balm, $25, alchimie-forever.com). You can get a jumpstart by rubbing olive oil on your feet just before bed, then slipping on a pair of socks while you sleep. You'll wake up with softer feet in the a.m. — do this for a week and your cracked heels should be gone.
