Malibu's Surfrider Beach is dedicated as the first World Surfing Reserve, chosen for its great waves and its key role in creating modern surf culture.
In August Hurricane Marie creates the largest surf since the 1970s with swells of 10 to 15 ft. The huge waves draw crowds to the beach and surfers to the water including local surf legends such as Laird Hamilton.
