Dressing for the office gets trickier as the weather gets warmer. You want to look buttoned up, but you don't want to overheat or sweat through thick fabrics. Time to break out the linen blends and light colors. Instead of spending a bundle on expensive shirts, which will – let's face it – probably be permanently pit-stained before August, pick up a couple of these affordable-but-good-looking summer shirts.
Penfield Vern Shirt
Penfield might be the only brand that uses flecked fabric for its button-downs without charging an arm and a leg for it. At $90, we'd say that the Vern Shirts in Pale Blue and Ecru are a steal. Both are spring and summer appropriate, look good with anything, and manage to be classic, current, and visually interesting at the same time. Like all things Penfield, these shirts are ideal for bigger guys with muscular builds. Just one thing to note: If you don't wear trousers on the higher-waisted side, the tag – which is stitched to the outside of the garment – might show. Dress accordingly. [$90; penfield.com]
