The fact that every cutting edge, top-of-the-line smartphone is outclassed by another model within months (or weeks) of release has an upside: There's a glut of great smartphones that are unbelievably cheap. Provided you qualify for a new-phone discount, the array of high-quality smartphones that can be had for less than $100 is impressive. It's not entirely fair to tout the HTC One's front-facing stereo speakers as its best feature, since the phone nails essentially everything, from physical design (it's a masterpiece in aluminum) to camera quality (despite the sad-sounding 4-megapixel stat, the sensor picks up more light and detail per pixel than most other phones). But those speakers are genuinely fantastic, with distortion-free, bass-thumping audio that rivals some wireless Bluetooth speakers.
