The fact that every cutting edge, top-of-the-line smartphone is outclassed by another model within months (or weeks) of release has an upside: There's a glut of great smartphones that are unbelievably cheap. Provided you qualify for a new-phone discount, the array of high-quality smartphones that can be had for less than $100 is impressive. We're not hyping a bunch of consolation prizes or bargain-bin finds. These handsets prove that spending more than a c-note for a new smartphone is as obsolete as a Blackberry.

HTC One Mini
Whether you want the HTC One experience without paying for it, or genuinely prefer a smaller phone, say hello to the scrappier sibling of HTC's flagship handset. The Mini's screen is 4.4 inches (as opposed to 4.7), and at 16 GB, the base model comes with half the storage. Where it counts, though, this model retains the goods, including that detail-dense camera, the sleek aluminum build (despite some additional plastic), and those fantastic, miniature boom box speakers.
