Bachelor parties can be a hassle, a debacle, or an excuse to get out of town with friends. We like the last approach and heartily recommend spending a long weekend partying in a city not named "Las Vegas." You'll get more culture, enjoy time with friendly locals, drink exotic brews, and – if all goes well – spend some time outdoors when you sober up. Here are nine destinations for guys looking to get strange before going home and making a commitment.
North Lake Tahoe, California
North Lake Tahoe is the perfect destination for groomsmen with low attention spans. Visit in early spring and you'll be able to ski crowd-free Diamond Peak Ski Resort, hire a boat from Mickey's Big Mack charters and go fishing, try out the brews at Tahoe Mountain Brewing Company, and actually save money by staying in the swanky Hyatt Regency Casino, where prices are based on the assumption that guests will hit the tables in the lodge. That's just one day. Wake up late on day two and hit the links by teeing off at the scenic Incline Village Mountain Course. On the last night, start a fire by the beach then drink to stay warm. The stars and snow bunnies will be out in force.
