Look for Cracks
The simplest chores are sometimes the most important. So it goes with checking walls and ceilings. "A few times a year, take a nice walk around your house, look for any cracks and openings," Carolla says. "You'd be surprised what you’d find."
Strolling around to inspect the nooks and crannies will ensure that small problems do not become major, expensive issues. Want to save yourself a serious hassle: make sure your breaker panel shuts tightly, seal up the leaks in the hose, check under the eaves, and make sure your roof isn't pouring water into your basement. And don't paint over discolorations – look into why they're there.
