Release Date: July 18
The Plot: Shot over a twelve-year period, director Richard Linklater’s ode to childhood tracks the development of one character, Mason (Ellar Coltrane), from ages six to 18 as he experiences the roller-coaster ride of growing up in America. Linklater also tapped his old friend, Ethan Hawke, to play Mason’s father.
Not to Miss: Nothing else in the history of film – not even “Rosebud” – forces you to reflect so intensely on your own youth.
