Thor grew up going to what he calls "The Hamptons of the Midwest" with his family, so he never paid much attention to how hectic the lakefront got during holiday weekends until he set about writing 'The First Commandment.'
"It was always crazy, but a peaceful sort of crazy," says Thor. "I was, naturally, interested in seeing how that peace could be interrupted." In his book, the idyllic escape for wealthy Chicagoans gets caught in the crossfire as an assassin targets Scot Harvath's loved ones.
