Maybe you're a simple guy. Maybe the concept of owning more than one cologne rattles you. Here's why you should consider at least two different scents: The hotter the weather, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the greater the swings in the scent of your cologne. "During warm seasons, body fluids increase the level of skin acidity, amplifying the reaction with a certain fragrance," says Deboulet. "So the same man can actually create variances in his own fragrance under different conditions."
You don't have to do anything drastic — many fragrance makers are aware of the seasonal dilemma and create lighter and darker versions of the same scent, or the same fragrance family, making it simple to switch it up, come summer or fall. Finally, don't let indecision paralyze you. Buy two or three if you can't decide, and wear them in rotation for a week or two, until the day you score a hot date/get a promotion/win the lottery. Then you'll know: This is your new signature scent.
