The fertility-related surgery most men know about is vasectomy reversal. Every year 500,000 to 750,000 men get a vasectomy and about 6 percent will want it reversed. In those who get a reversal, success can exceed 95 percent. Another common surgery addresses a vericocele, which is a swelling of the veins that drain the testicles, similar to varicose veins. This swelling lowers sperm count by preventing proper cooling of the testicles. Veriococele surgeries have around a 75 percent success rate.
